Lucas's birthday is May 3 and Micah's birthday is May 20, so usually Gary and I go to Houston on Mother's Day. We can spend the holiday with Wendy and it's right in the middle of the boys' birthdays and we can celebrate both.
This year, Wendy called us and asked us to come and "babysit" for the kids while she and Doug go to a conference in Atlanta, Georgia. We drove down on Tuesday, April 28 and they left on Wednesday. The kids were in school Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, so we just had to make sure they made it to school and home every day and to whatever activities they had on their schedules. Pretty easy job. We really did enjoy it.
Then Doug and Wendy got home on Saturday and that evening we went to Taste of Texas to celebrate Lucas's birthday. Oh my word! Those are the best steaks we have ever tasted.

Lucas, it just does not seem possible that you are 16. You really are a remarkable and fun guy. I love how good you are with babies and young children. Enjoy your summer and get ready to be a junior in high school. Oh....I can't even think about that.
We will celebrate Micah's birthday with him when we come back at the end of May.
