The Challenge

A few weeks ago, a friend posted a picture of me and a couple of other ladies on Facebook.  We were sitting around a table talking.  My eyes immediately went to my oversized stomach hanging over my jeans.  Aaarrrggghhh!  I think I become accustomed to seeing myself in a mirror and accept my overweightness, but somehow a photo shocks me into reality.

Since I have tried about every diet plan out there and my group exercise workouts have mainly just maintained because I only do them once a week, I am trying something new.. ...running.  I joined the Bible Study group at church called "Run For God."  Here's my thinking....it's 12 weeks long; it's in a group which means accountability; it's "run/walk" until you work up to running; you run 3 times a week and every runner I know has lost weight running.

After 6 weeks, here I am.....still doing the "run/walk", only without the running, because my knee hurts.  But  I will keep on keeping on because I am determined to get my blood pressure and cholesterol under control, not buy any larger sizes in my clothes, eat better, and not be a quitter.

So....on the days that I do not ru..walk, I try to do some kind of exercise.....like taking the kids to the zoo.

I figure walking around the zoo pushing a double stroller while carrying Ava in that little frontpack counts as a workout.

I did get some really cool shoes and cute running outfits with matching socks.....does that count for something?
