First, there's 21 month old Cael. I made us a strawberry smoothie for a snack this morning, then sat down in the recliner to call Wendy. While we were talking, I was giving him a bite, and spilled a drop on my pants leg. So...pretty soon here comes Cael out of the kitchen with a towel and wiped my leg. Wasn't that thoughtful of him?
Next, while I was still talking on the phone, he comes in with a plate with two empty root beer cans on it, like a tray. Well, the cans fell off, and a few drops landed on the floor...so he gets down and sips the soda off the floor.
Where's the towel, Cael? You can just wipe it up.
Here you go, Mema....
When I finished my conversation with Wendy, I said, "Cael, let's go to the post office and bank".... and he goes into my office and comes out with this purse on his arm and stands by the stairs........
He sure is in rare form today.....
Then there is Ruth Ann, 6 year old first-grader.........
Wendy told me that she went to the kids orientation night at the elementary school. Ruthie's teacher was telling them how she is going to do their spelling tests according to the level each child is at, instead of one list for all. For example, she had them write in their journal and she took the words for their spelling from that writing.
First example: I woke up and brushed my teth in the morng and went to skwl.
The teacher said that, for instance, she could use "school" or "teeth" for this child's level.
Second example: I am going to have a birthday soon and I am so exited. I asked my mom if I could have a Hello Kitty cake and she said mabe. My sisters birthday is November 29 and my birthday is October 9. I'm turning 7.
The teacher said that, for this child's level she could use "excited" for her spelling list.
At the top of their journal page is a space for a picture. Wendy said that Ruthie had filled her page from picture space down with writing. I didn't realize that we had a budding jounalist in the family, but knowing Ruth Ann, she can do anything she puts her mind to.
Well, that's my journal entry for the day. Gotta go change a stinker now.
later,
Donna

Cael is adorable, and apparantly smart too! What great stories. Sounds like Ruth will have no problems with school-she may be teaching the class soon!
